4 tips on Regulating yourself during the Holidays
I don’t know about you but holidays make me anxious just thinking about them. First there’s the travel and all the crazies in the aiports, then there’s the family or families coming together, everyone wants something different and rarely are there many compromises. It turns into a festive dump of overwhelm, anxiousness and anger and it’s a lot.
The first thing to do is to create a routine. I know holidays can be a bit of a mishmash but honestly, routines save lives. Know that you’re not going to scroll on your phone first thing and last thing at night, have a little thought about the food you eat and meal prep.
I know it’s easy to eat whatever is going around not the holiday table but let’s be honest, we all know that how we feel is affected by what we eat. So while I’m advocating to eat whatever you want, let’s also listen to our body and start to become aware of feeling full.
The second thing that’s going to be a big help is to move your body. Even 5 minutes of stretching is going to help calm your CNS (central nervous system) down and allow your body to get some space.
The last one is maybe my most important one - getting out in nature. Whether it’s a walk, a swim, a roll in the grass. Whatever it is, you need to do it. Put your phone down and feel the world, hear the wind, see the bugs.
