How can releasing your hips help your emotional wellbeing?
Hmmmm. Ever felt so totally overwhelmed the slightest thing sets you off? Or perhaps you are realising that your emotions are, in general, all over the place?
It could be as simple as tight hips. Hear me out. As a Pilates Teacher that focuses on Body-Breath connection the one thing I see (more than anything else) is tight hips. And from there we’re looking at bad posture, bad sleep, bad sex!
But as females we store 90% of our emotional “stuff” in our hips so it’s no wonder that when we feel bad and shocking our we can loosen our hips and it works like a charm.
Keeping our hips lose and mobile is my number one top tip to emotional regulation. And what moves? Well, here they are, 3 moves that will help you release your hips and release your emotions.
1) Sacrum Rolls. The macdaddy of all pilates moves. This is just a staple and so easy to do. Lie on your back with the soles of the feet on the floor. A little gap should be between your lower back and the floor. In hale and rock your pelvis towards your heels. Exhale as you rock it back towards your ribs. Keep going. Try starting with 10-15 morning and night.
