7 benefits of Pilates

In a world where every day you’re told to do better, be better, change your appearance, work out, work harder there’s one thing we don’t talk about enough and that’s slowing down and connecting with yourself.

As someone who has been practising Pilates since 2007 then teaching since 2021 here are the 7 benefits I feel from Pilates:

  1. the first benefit I feel from practising pilates is that I feel connected to myself. In a world where we’re so busy, Pilates allows me to come back to myself.

  2. the second benefit I feel is that I can slow down. As a single mama I’m constantly rushing and on the go and this 30 minutes a day allows me to just stop and be.

  3. your CNS (central nervous system) will love you and your pilates practise as this is a huge benefit- regulating you CNS.

  4. while we’re talking about regulating- it’s not just our body that gets regulated but our emotions too. My style of pilates allows you to connect back with your breath and this in turn regulates your emotions.

  5. saying thank you. Now stick with me. For me, the practise of pilates is a huge self care tick. And self care, personally is about saying thank you to my body.

  6. while slightly boring, pilates has a huge impact on posture which in turn is a real benefit - good posture mostly means great breathing, your body is allowed to work properly.

  7. and last, but by no means the least, one of the biggest benefits of practising pilates is pain reduction - this kind of ties in with #6 but it’s huge. Since practising pilates my general body pain has gone.
