Ok, so we've been in Singapore 1 month and I have to say that my body has never felt so floppy, saggy, overweight and yucky. It's time for a major overhaul. MAJOR. I know I'm intolerant to gluten, dairy, various nuts, various foods and yet I just can't help myself - theres is a Pitta bread bakery just round the corner from our hotel and I just can't resist....What is wrong with me ?????? It's hard cooking in a serviced apartment with none of my normal kitchen utensils but I'm trying. This week I'm really gonna try and try to thing every time before I make a purchase "how does this benefit my future self?"
5 leaves of iceberg lettuce, washed and chopped
Hi 7 cherries, quartered
hand full of pistachios + walnuts (you can chop if you want!)
Half a carrot, peeled and chopped.
5 slices of white radish (its a local radish!)
1 tomato washed and chopped
2 tsp chia seeds
1tbsp humus (from the Pitta bread bakery!)
half a lemon squeezed + mixed with 1tsp olive oil
a chunk of cucumber, washed and chopped.
Pistachios are a great source of B6 and other Vitamins such as A, C, E and K and are rich in potassium, magnesium, zinc and Iron. They are also great at promoting a healthy heart, help with weight loss and metabolism as well as holding antioxidant properties! Did you know that takes between 10-12 years for a pistachio tree to give its first crop? Pretty amazing huh!?!
One of my favourite, favourite all time fruits are cherries. One of my earliest memories is sitting under a cherry tree looking at the blue sky in France. They help promote good sleep due to their melatonin content, have been proven to reduce strokes and have great antioxidant properties. Bonus!
